WA: Jackaroo's parents take compensation case to High Court
The parents of a teenage Jackaroo who died in the Great Sandy Desert 15 years ago are
taking a compensation case to the High Court this week.
The appeal comes a year after the West Australian Supreme Court rejected a bid for
compensation by LES and SANDRA ANNETTS for the death of their 16-year-old JAMES.
The remains of Mr ANNETTS and 17-year-old SIMON AMOS were found in the desert five
months after they had been reported missing.
The trainee jackaroos were found 18 kilometres from where they had bogged a vehicle.
Last November, the WA Supreme Court rejected the ANNETTS' claim for compensation, saying
their son's employers were not accountable for their suffering on learning of their son's
disappearance and death.
The hearing will begin tomorrow or Wednesday in the High Court in Canberra.
