Fed: Comfort woman wants the Coalition to back apology request

An Australian who survived being forced into Japanese troop brothels .. has urged coalition
MPs to support a new motion calling for Japan to apologise.

A draft motion will be presented to the Senate today.

It mirrors a resolution recently passed by the US Congress .. urging Tokyo to apologise
for forcing up to 200 thousand women into sexual slavery in World War Two.

84-year-old Adelaide woman JAN RUFF O'HERNE has led a campaign for a formal apology
by Japan to those it called comfort women .. and wants the HOWARD government to back her.







Mrs O'HERNE will speak at a parliamentary briefing in Canberra today .. to mark a day
of global action for comfort women .. that coincides with the 62nd anniversary of Japan's
surrender to Allied forces.
