Fed: Cyclone Monica heads towards Darwin

Residents of Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory have been allowed out of public shelters
to return to their homes .. with the worst of Cyclone Monica passing over coastal communities.

But people are being warned to remain cautious .. with strong wind gusts expected for
the next couple of hours.

No injuries or major damage has been reported at this stage.

Elcho Island will be the next community to be affected by the cyclone .. and Monica
is expected to cross the NT coastline near Milingimbi in the next 24 hours before heading
towards Darwin.

The cyclone's forecast to weaken to category three by the time it reaches the city
on Tuesday afternoon.
