WHITE HOUSE VISION FOR CYBERSPACE PAVES WAY FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, SAYS BSA NEW INTERNATIONAL STRATEGY FOR CYBERSPACE OUTLINES US VALUES AND POLICY PRIORITIES.

The Business Software Alliance (BSA) today applauded the Obama administration's release of the United States' first, comprehensive International Strategy for Cyberspace. Unveiled at a White House ceremony on Monday, the new policy document spells out US values and policy priorities in cyberspace.

"The Obama Administration has articulated a comprehensive vision that will pave the way for productive international cooperation on key priorities in cyberspace," said BSA President and CEO Robert Holleyman. "I was honored to attend the unveiling of the Administration's strategic roadmap, because it represents a bold declaration of principles."

"As the document rightly states, cyberspace must be open to innovation, interoperable the world over, secure enough to earn people's trust, and reliable enough to support their work," said Holleyman. "To promote international standards and innovative, open markets, the Administration's strategy recognizes the central importance of protecting intellectual property from theft. And in seeking to protect our communications networks, the strategy also underscores that the Internet is inherently global, so there must be a global approach to cyber policy. BSA has also articulated a similar vision in its Global Cybersecurity Framework. BSA looks forward to working with the Administration to advance its very worthy policy goals."
